In The Last O.G. (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), the number-one comedy on cable TV, Tracy Morgan stars as an ex-convict who, upon returning to his hometown of Brooklyn and finding his girlfriend (Tiffany Haddish) married to another man and his neighborhood gentrified, must rely on his cooking skills to find his place in a city he often doesn’t recognize.

TBS asked Melcher Media to create a spinoff to satisfy fans’ appetites for the show’s fictitious recipes and extend the O.G. universe. Ignoring all sensible cookbook conventions, we built out recipes, styled photos, and designed pages that are as over-the-top and irreverent as Morgan himself––who worked closely with us to ensure the book matched his creative vision. The book overflows with more than twenty custom-made display fonts, as well as food styling props that include bologna rosettes, a mosaic of breakfast cereals, and shag carpet. TBS will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of the book to benefit Drive Change, a charitable organization that helps formerly incarcerated young people with workplace training.
