Melcher Media worked with Rotary International with support from the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to produce a three-minute virtual reality film, entitled One Small Act, in honor of World Polio Day. The film emphasizes the two themes of polio and peace, and how Rotary’s work to eradicate the disease is increasing stability across the world. Using Google’s virtual reality viewer, Cardboard, Rotarians from all over the world gathered together for what was one of the largest simultaneous viewings of virtual reality held to date. The film depicts the extraordinary journey of a child whose own world has been torn apart by conflict. Together with Rotary International, UNICEF, and Google, the team at Melcher Media harnessed the power of virtual reality to build empathy and inspire action in the fight to eradicate polio.
