In 2018, Netflix collaborated with Melcher Media and Hachette Books to make an illustrated tie-in book to A Series of Unfortunate Events, Netflix’s Emmy-nominated adaptation of the beloved Lemony Snicket young adult series. The resulting companion, The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations: An Utterly Unreliable Account of Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, includes never-before-seen photographs; intimate interviews with cast and crew; annotated script excerpts; hidden Easter eggs; as well as an introduction and commentary by the show’s star, Neil Patrick Harris.

Designed as a replica of the eponymous prop in the show, The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations features a removable sticker, gold foil filigree, and embossed leather pattern, creating an otherworldly feel.
