For the book’s design, we were inspired by 1950s and 1960s kids cookbooks by Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens. Featuring retro-style illustrations and typography alongside beautiful four-color photographs—plus a hidden spiral binding so that it lies flat on the kitchen counter—Deceptively Delicious is user-friendly while maintaining a bright, cheerful aesthetic.
Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food
As a mom of three young children, Jessica Seinfeld found herself struggling with a problem shared by many parents: dinnertime “veggie wars” where the kids would reject the healthy food she served them. So she began experimenting at home by blending pureed vegetables into familiar favorites like mac and cheese and brownies without changing the taste or color. Suddenly family mealtimes were less stressful, and she could rest assured that the kids were getting the nutrients they needed.
Eager to share these recipes with other parents like herself, she came to us with the idea for Deceptively Delicious, a cookbook full of kid-friendly meals packed with stealth nutrition.
