Better and Better: The Spirit of a Medicine Company

Client: Eli Lilly

Publisher: Melcher Media

Written by: Andrew Postman

When pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company turned 150 in 2026, it needed an elevated, unforgettable way to mark the occasion. They partnered with us to make Better and Better: The Spirit of a Medicine Company, a book that captures the company’s history, ethos, and success in a sophisticated, deluxe package to be shared with thousands of Lilly employees worldwide.

Careful Curation

With 150 years of history and a sprawling archive, Lilly had no shortage of material. We worked with the Lilly team and its archivists to carefully review and curate the voices, images, and medicines to highlight, ensuring each selection aligned with the company’s goals. The result is a comprehensive, rigorous narrative that spans different times, places, and areas of the company.

Thoughtful Design

Having a deep understanding of the value and cachet of the Lilly brand, we knew we had to produce a book that would uphold that high standard. We took care to ensure that every aspect of the design—from the photography to the infographics to the black cloth case—reflected the level of quality for which Lilly is known.

Extending Value

We committed to seeing our partnership with the 150th anniversary team through to the end in every aspect. That meant working closely with Lilly to help get the book into the hands of VIPs and employees all over the world, as well as producing both an audiobook and e-book version.
